This home overlooking Nauset Harbor was designed by Charles Gwathmey. It has been written about in many magazines including Architectural Digest. Built in 1968 the vertical siding was cut in such a way that it allowed water to seep between the siding and plywood sheathing which eventually rotted the sheathing and then the frame. The house could not be torn down for two reasons the enormity of the cost and it's close proximity to the water. As a result the home had to be rebuilt piece by piece.
